Gear & What To Bring

A successful fishing trip in the Andaman Islands begins with the right gear. At Gamefishing Asia, we recommend packing essential equipment along with a few optional items that can make your day on the water even more rewarding. Whether you’re targeting Giant Trevally (GTs), Dogtooth Tuna, or pelagic species like Sailfish and Yellowfin Tuna, preparation is key.

Our tackle recommendations list rod–reel combinations and lure styles that work well in the Andamans. For lures, we list brands for shape and size reference only, as new manufacturers emerge every year. Please consider your strength and casting style when choosing lure weights and tackle setups. You will need to work your lures effectively for long hours during your trip. For personalised tackle advice, our team is always available via email or WhatsApp once you have booked your trip.

  • Waterproof jacket (showers and winds are common)

  • Small waterproof bag for valuables

Health and Safety at Sea

To fully enjoy your offshore fishing adventure in the Andaman Islands, staying healthy and hydrated is essential. Fresh water is provided on board, but we recommend carrying oral rehydration sachets to maintain energy throughout the day. It’s also wise to bring a small personal supply of basic medicines such as motion sickness tablets, antacids, Imodium, antiseptic cream, and Panadol or Voltaren for minor discomforts. While our boats are fully equipped with first aid kits to treat cuts or bruises, these simple precautions help ensure that you remain comfortable and can focus on the thrill of chasing GTs, Dogtooth Tuna, and Yellowfin Tuna.
