Angler in Focus – Joakim Lind

I have fished for different species over the years. The focus through the years, has shifted from Carp and float fishing, smaller species to predator fishing for Perch, Zander and Pike. I also enjoy Salmon trolling, both in the Baltic Sea and the big lakes of Sweden. I have travelled a lot for Carp in Europe and gone sea fishing in Norway. My favourite in the last years has been GT fishing.

How long have you been fishing? When did you start?
I have been fishing for around 30 years. The first time I got hold of a fishing rod, I was about 4 or 5 years old.

What do you like the best about fishing in the Andaman Islands?
What is it not to love about the place? The scenery is stunning and the Geets are out hunting poppers & stick baits all week long. You just have to continue popping and the slowest day can turn into total mayhem at any time.

What are Your tackle recommendations for large fish in general?
The 2015 Saltiga 6500H has served me well over a lot of trips, together with 100 pound Tuf line XP. GFA offers some great rods for rental, so I have used the Racepoint 100, 150 and 200 over my trips to the Andamans and they are up to the job.

What is your all-time favourite lure for GT fishing?
Only one? The Heru Cubera 150 is a safe card but, sometimes a stick bait can be devastating, so the Amegari Mehe 255 is my go to Stick bait.

What is the most interesting experience you had on a fishing trip?
We went fishing in Bulgaria once and it was interesting to say the least.

What would be your message for the young generation of anglers?
Be true to yourself and fish for whatever you want to fish for and enjoy it. Don’t give up and keep on trying. Experience is what you gain and learn along the way.

What you enjoyed during your fishing trip and why you are returning with us in the Andaman Islands, would you revisit and how do you rate our service?
It´s just so smooth and easy with GFA, you don´t have to worry about anything. When you go for the first time they are helpful in getting you the right tackle. Everything at GFA is great, well organized and prepared to your liking – from the polite and helpful staff, to the guesthouse, boats and logistic; it´s just a recipe for success. Of course I will keep coming back to the Andamans, it´s one of my favorite places to visit and GFA is the only operator I trust for an excellent fishing experience.

Fishing destinations on your must visit list / bucket list?
There are just to many nice places and cool species out there, if you love fishing and traveling, you have many options, but I want to fish in the Amazons for sure one day.
